Makeup

No, this isn't the "green" change I was talking about, although I do believe you could put it into that category if you wanted to. However, it's something I've been thinking about and would like opinions...especially from any male readers I may have.

I wear minimal makeup nearly every day. In fact over the past few months I've actually started wearing more than I had in the past. I'm not someone that refuses to be seen without it. If I wear it to the gym it's only because I'm going there to work or already had it on. I prefer the way I look with it to how I look without it.

But I really hate wearing it. Even though it only takes me a few minutes to put it on and take it off, it's just a hassle. I don't have the best skin, so I feel like it helps the way I look, but I also wonder if giving it up would improve things eventually.

So, if you've seen me without it please weigh in!! If you haven't, what do you think? Is it more professional looking to wear it? Am I crazy for considering giving it up? Will this mean I'll never get another date (not that I'm getting any while wearing it) for as long as I go without? Opinions please!!

  1. Emmy, I am SO with you on this! I don't wear much makeup, but my life is even more simple without it. However, my friend saw me without it the other day and kept asking me if I was sick. Her friend (who had met me before when I was wearing makeup) asked if this was the same Regina she had met before. Ugh, I suddenly became pretty insecure lol. And I had a church board meeting afterwards knowing that I looked "sick" without my makeup. Oh well. I decided that I wasn't (and will not) worry too much about it. It was kind've freeing not to wear it although I don't see myself giving it up completely. You are beautiful with or without makeup.

  2. Thank you Regina, as are you!!! Even though I wear very little it just feels like one more thing I have to do. Don't get me wrong, I want to look nice and put together, but I'm just tired of it. Men look just fine without it, so why don't we think we do? I've decided not to wear any today. Depending on how it goes, maybe I'll skip it the whole week!

  3. I'm one of those women that never got used to wearing makeup. When I do (usually at special events), people tell me I look "so pretty dressed up", so I wonder what they think without it haha! But that's just women - I think we're brainwashed from a young age to think makeup = pretty.

Men on the other hand appear to care less. I've never had trouble getting a boyfriend, and the ones I've had are the type that don't like fake beauty anyway, which is a nice bonus.

The person that comments on my looks most is my mom, who tells me to get my eyebrows done every time she sees me. "You look so much more professional with waxed eyebrows". I've acctually had them done just to see her before, which you'd think would make her feel bad.

Anyway, I'm glad you're going to give it a try! :) You're beautiful without it, it just may take a little getting used to letting people see your "real" face!
